Default Retrofitting MMI 3G to 3G+ on 10-12 models?

After browsing around I realized a few DIYers were able to purchase the new 3G+ parts and retrofitted their vehicles with the new system.

From what I have gathered the information are somewhat scattered and limited.

Does anybody know if any dealers (around SoCal if possible) know or willing to do the retrofitting?

Getting a dealer to do a retrofit would be the most expensive route you could possibly go. I would just get the unit and swap it myself. I think the only other thing you need is the antenna if you already have nav. If you don't have nav then that's a whole other story.

I figured... Anyway I did some digging around tonight. Still very limited information are available. I was aware that I need at least few things to get it done.

The AudiForum.us has a post where a list of parts I would need is posted. However I'm more confused which one I need for my 11 Q5 with a Nav.

Has anybody done the retrofitting on their Q5 before?

This is something i'd love to do to my 2011 as well. Have you done the NAVTEQ update to your navigation? Curious if they have any software updates or just map updates... now that Audi switched to google maps it seems like it will be only a few years before our system is obsolete.

Confirmed for 2010 S5 MMI3G+ retrofit:

MMI 3G Plus Main-Unit: 8R1 035 746 A or B
MMI-Controls: 8T0 919 611 C WFX (with Start/Stop button) or 8T0 919 611 B WFX (without Start/Stop button)
HD/Sirius Radio-Unit: 4G0 035 082
CAN Gateway: 8T0 907 468 AA (if anyone is wondering what I have in the car)

Work great together, with no radio cut-outs.

The upgrade is really worth the hassle as I notice the DSP in the MMI 3G+ units with B&O system is much better compared to the MMI 3G. No annoying resonances from the built-in subwoofer in the back of the car.

Not to mention the A2DP streaming with Bluetooth, HD Radio and Google Maps.

It is the same procedure for Q5-s with MMI3G.

Lauri

P.S. I have an extra 8R1 035 746 A. PM me, if interested.

Interesting post, bookmarked for future use.

It seems that mmi3g plus does not use the previous controls 8T0919609G, however screen and cables are the same.
Is there a possibility to use 8T0919609G instead of 8T0919611C???

8T0919611C was superceded by 8T0919611L. So this is the latest one.

Reason I am asking, already purchased screen (PN ends with 604A) and older controls. 8T0919609G.
