Default oil change due

Purchased brand new Q5 in July 20, 2018. Currently less than 5,000 miles, and dealer ship says first oil change should be 10,000 miles or at one year (whichever is first). I am currently getting message that oil change is due when I turn the car on. Do I go in for the oil change now or wait until the one year? Is the message just an early reminder?

Did the car sit for 6 months before you purchased it?

I’m not sure. Maybe one month.

personally, I would just change it at 5k if you're planning on keeping the car- if not, stretch it to 7500.

Unless you are in a dirty dusty environment, just reset the warning and do the first service/oil change at 10,000 miles or one year from when you bought it.

The oil has been in the car for a year. It is the oil that was used for the engine break-in. For the hundred bucks or so for the oil change, I'd do it. Then let Audi do the 10,000 mile service and get the freebie.
You'll never go wrong with doing an oil change.......If you don't put the miles on your car, you should change the oil annually.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I greatly appreciate it. So it sounds like I should wait for the one year mark which is less than 3 week away. It's just odd the oil change indicator would come on even though it's three weeks away from the one year purchase date.
