Mine was to the point of burning a quart every 6-700 miles.... So I traded it in on a Mazda CX-90. I recommend everyone dealing with the same issue to get out before you lose compression on a cylinder and have to spend 10k..

My 2017 Q7 3.0T with 65k miles is consuming 1 quart every 5k miles. I'm guessing this is pretty good at this mileage? You folks think I can push this engine to 120k miles?

tough call to be honest. odds are probably pretty decent but I bet by 2X mileage you'll be burning a quart every 2000 miles or so which is like every 5 fill ups. what was your oil change interval for the first 65K miles? I always recommend a 5K OCI with these cars regardless of what the MFG states.

The 5K OCI is probably best. I'm just past 5K now and I swear the oil consumption has been noticeably higher the past 1.5-2K miles. According to the dash monitor, I burned no oil at all the first 3-3.5K miles of this oil interval. It's all oil burn b/c there is no oil residue in my garage where I park.

it was changed anywhere between 5 - 7k miles. Hope I can get 2x the miles on this. I’ll change out the PCV if the oil consumption gets worse. Is it detrimental to the engine if it consumes oil like a quart every 1000 miles? I wouldnt want to do rings on this in the future if it gets to that point.
I had 78K on my last Q7 and it wasn't burning much oil and I was also doing 5K OCIs and I started them at 39K and the car was tuned as well.

My 2017 Q7 3.0 is consuming a lot of oil and I am trying to keep track but generally 1 quart per 600-800 miles. I changed the PCV and all 6 spark plugs that were heavily coated (cost-$3000) and it is still the same. Now, we have added a quart of Lucas oil which is a sealant and keeping track of the oil consumption. My mechanic told me, over time, the excessive oil consumption will foul up everything and damage your catalytic converter. Doing a whole engine overhaul is also a big money loss because Audi has not changed the engine design or fixed the problem; so you are putting the same engine into the car which will likely have the same problem. My thoughts now is to sell the car and lease a new one.

I cant believe Audi hasn't learned a thing or two about the piston rings since 2010/2011. I thought the issue was fixed and even with the 3.0T specifically to avoid the oil consumption issue. I spoke to a local mechanic that works on Audi and he said its going to be 8-10k for new pistons/rings and an engine overhaul. 1 week of work. The parts alone are around 5k. My first and last Audi for sure. Will probably pick up a GLS or X7 in a couple of years
