Default since it's a popular topic today, a few thoughts on the Cayman S

I have been trying to follow information on the car as my next car might not be an RS4 after all...

First the controversial name. It should no doubt be renamed to something more masculine. Now this is still a secret so don't spread it around, but PAG has decided to rename it at launch as "Coxster" as in Coupe Boxster. Who can complain now that the name is not virile enough???

Second I downloaded from the Internet a few days ago a video of the upcoming 997 Turbo and Cayman being tested at Nurburgring. But the video has now been taken down from that web site. Anyone interested in hosting it?

Finally, here are some pretty clear spy pics very close to final form of the Coxster... err sorry Cayman.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autobild.de/aktuell/neuheiten/artikel.php?artikel_id=8322&amp;artikel_seite=0">c lick on 39 Bilder</a></li></ul>

Default How about this... supply me with the proposed specs for the cayman.... and I'll tell you what....

six years of engineering (mechanical of course) say about investing/purchasing such a machine. I've got tons of free time at work... and research would be a pleasure.

Hmmm from my 'aunderstahnding'... cayman S will have between 340 and 360 hp......

Default Porsche has a really wacky take on things...

They say they are going for a "younger" audience with the Cayman, yet they are going to price it at $60K, between the Boxster and 911.

Most "younger" drivers don't have a spare $60K. Perhaps that's just me...

Default the latest Car & Driver said it would be around $70k

so the Cayman S would be between a 911 and 911 S. Maybe Porsche decided to slot it in there after seeing that the Cayman S is alreading turning faster than the base 911 on the ring...

Default yes, 3.4 liter engine, 295hp for the S. A similar weight than the current Boxster

or even a bit lighter as it does not have the heavy top of the Boxster. The same wonderful mid-engine balance, much better in my view than the rear-engine 911, and the utility of a "hatchback" to compensate for the lack of the two little seats in the 911.

Of course the prestige associated with the 911 won't be there for those who pay attention to those things. But go is more important for me than show

Default Yeah, the 911 could be a bitch if pushed a little far (so I hear, never drove one) and the Boxster..

and Cayman should be a little more neutral and "friendly". Gotta love the power/balance combo of the carrera, though. In the top 5 road cars on the planet.

Default Sure beats selling jacked-up land barge SUVs

Altho have to admit that the Chili Pepper doesn't drive like any SUV I've ever driven.
