Shutting off engne when parking
Guys, is it bad if I just press "Start/Stop Engine" button to shut down the engine *without* putting the tranny in Park first? I remember reading a thread about that but can't seem to find it. Your input/thoughts is appreciated.

If you set the parking brake first there shouldn’t be a problem. If you don’t and you are on an incline the car might roll a little bit before the park gear holds the car.
You could also open the drivers door after taking off your seat belt (with the engine running) and the car will set the parking brake for you.

I always set the parking brake. Shutting off the car "in gear" is no problem, as far as I know -- the car automatically goes into park if you forget. The setting of the parking brake eliminates the "clunk" which can sometimes happen when you get in the car after it has been ONLY put in park. However, other than the clunk, I would assume there is no mandatory requirement to set the EPB. Since it automatically releases, I can't see any downside to always setting it, however.
Personal preference.
