Default Bose vs Symphony according to manual

There are two interesting quotes in the manual comparing the two sound systems.

1. "The BOSE Sound System consists mainly of an enlarged speaker system for optimum sound quality."

2. "The radio has 4 line outputs; a BOSE amplifier is connected to these which controls the sound adjustment."

The 'standard' system also has the 4 line outputs which supports the installation of 'any commercial amplifier'

Does the Bose upgrade have more speakers or just bigger & better speakers?

Default No - its more

Bose works with the car mfrs to maeasure the frequency response of the interior from many locations in the car. They do equalization of each speaker to fine tune this sound based on expensive anaylitical equipment. The intent is to have flat frequency response (no colorazation of the sound). They go as far as they can with the amount of money budgeted by the car manufacturer on the project. (It's funny Cadallic has spent the most money with Bose on their systems and yet those cars are going to people whos ages are in the region where hearing is most deterorated.).

I like mine - if you go through other postings you will see lots of people who say terrible things about Bose and the cost. I would buy it on my next car.
