how many US dollars were E-Codes in europe? and just put 0W-40 in my car so dont know yet

For one thing, our S4 runs noticeably cooler on 0w40 than it did on 0w30. Almost a full notch on the gauge.

Are you having problems, or just paranoid about using an oil that meets Audi's full spec?

No, been running it for something like 30,000 miles on the street now.

I didn't notice that much of a drop--maybe 1/3 of a notch.

Default Sure, run it year round here in the Philadelphia suburbs...
...I've seen temps as low as 5-degrees F and no problems starting the car.
