Default HELP! Werbling noise coming from right front....

...dealer said it was probably wheel bearing...R&R bearing to no avail. The sound starts at 20mph and gets progressively softer has engine noise increses, but if you listen carefully the werbling noise is still there. They said it has nothing to do with turbo. This noise if very dis-turbo-ing. Funny thing my TT only has 600 miles on odo and is a '03 TTQC. Any advice? Dealer says they have contacted Audi of America for advice....trouble in SoCal

Default If it's a wheel bearing the noise may change when you go around a curve.

Try taking a turn in each direction and see if the noise changes while you are making the turn. I had a bad wheel bearing a while back (left rear), and it would get louder when I went around right-hand turns, but would almost go away in left-hand turns. If something like that is happening, I would definitely blame it on a wheelbearing, so then you just have to figure out which one it is.

With mine, we got the rear wheels off the ground so that they rotated freely and turned each of them. One was completely silent, while the other made a faint grinding noise. Dealer replaced the wheel bearing in the wheel that made the grinding noise, and my car was silent again.

Good luck.

I'll look into the "curve" noise.

Default UPDATE! My dealer has notified Audi of America for advice...

they have assigned me a "technical hotline" tracking number. So, I have to follow up this by calling A of A and schedule an appointment with the my regions Audi technical advisor for further investigation on his part and a test drive. My dealer says the next option is to change either the prop shaft and/or the transfer box.
