Default New back seat ....

Or lack of back seat........ It's not to pretty right now.... But will be covered soon. I was happy to see I could use some existing bolts to hold it in place. So I was wondering, how much more road noise will I here as a result of this. I do plan later this spring to do at least one layer of dyno-mat if not 2 layers of dyno-mat in the whole car. But till then I am sort of worried I will be subjected to the joy of hearing every bump and seam in the road voicing its existence as I drive down the road. Oh and also has anyone ever tried to match the carpet in a denim blue coupe with denim blue carpet?... if so what brand was the carpet you used and maybe do you have a part # for it?.......

Thanks.......

Default oh... it will be loud... very very loud!

I did this in my mustang... I had 2 layers of the stick on regular dynamat... on top of that I had the thick 1/4 inch stuff with the lead sandwiched between it... and on top of that I had two layers of that noise reducing carpet padding crap... then carpet and it was still 20 times louder than with a seat there!!

Default don't worry.. it'll still be livable :)

The TT's exhaust isnt loud enough to begin with to pose a problem there... nothing like a mustang with dumps on it hehe.

especially since you have tailpipes out the back! but get ready to hear every little pebble and piece of road trash that gets kicked up under the car... oh and rain water shedding off from under the car!

you might even be able to pick up some differential noises from the quattro if you listen really carefully

Default Depending on your taste it could make the car sound better! >>>>

I actually like it a "little" noisier...I like to hear the engine, exhaust, and road noise to a degree. Again...depends on your taste.

Default the road noise won't be much louder but you'll hear the fuel pump

not sure if it's the real "fuel pump" or some misc. pump having to do with the gas tank. It's not loud but it sounds like a buzzing noise. The enclosure you're making will quiet that noise anyway. There's going to be more road noise from not having the rear seatbacks in there (the trunk isn't very insulated) but it's not bad.

Default Re: is that wood or fiberglass? details.

Mostly made of 5/8" thick high density particle board. Used a whole tube of liquid nails to hold the top, sides, and supports on. Also have a hand full of wood screws and some 90 degree angel iron to hold it good and square. I welded some bracket that will be used to bolt the whole assembly in place using existing bolts. Hole thing will install with zero modifications to the car so if need be all can be undone. The access doors I scored out of a motor donor I bought recently. They are spring loaded to keep them in a closed position and are injection molded abs plastic. Only bad thing is that the carpet on the access doors is heavily glued in place and is giving me a very hard time trying to remove it. I should have more photos of it some time I just haven't had time to snap any yet.
