Default understanding offset. click the pic...

anything between ET+45mm and ET+32mm is fine depending on the width of the wheel.

17"x7.5 with ET+35mm is what I run. I am lowered with H&R coilovers and the front fenders are rolled. ...with 225/45/17 S03 tires, which tend to run wide, I do rub slightly on the fender liner in odd situations, like leaving gas stations or parking lots. I just take them slowly and no problems...

Default offset matters, offset is relative to the width of the wheel

0et or 0 offset means the face of the inside mounting surface of the wheel is centered based on the width of the wheel. If a wheel had an 8" width, a 0 offset would mean that the inside surface of the wheel that comes into contact with the hub of the car is 4" inset from either face of the wheel. The same 8" wide wheel with an offset of say 10mm is a wheel who's mounting surface is 4"+10mm(2/5") from the inside lip of the wheel. This means on the same car the positive 10mm offset would make the wheel sit 10mm more towards the center of the car. You would lose 20mm in the tract of each axle with that offset. Offset is important to get right otherwise the wheel may not clear suspension components, brake components or may induce rubbing.

every mm can make a difference
