bluetooth continued, what do you think?
I guess I just got too interested by the "bluetooth " thread below:
So I made a search and found that Motorola Timeport 270c, which supports Bluetooth, is available on Verizon network. Unfortunately I don't know much about the bluetooth technology. The technology was never fully adopted in the USA market (it also seems that the technology may die faster than it will ever adopt here). However, I still wonder if the bluetooth car-kit like Parrot car kit (I assume that www.blueunplugged.com will ship to US.) will work with the bluetooth enabled USA network cell phone like Timeport 270c. The Timeport + Parrot seems much more elegant solution for the Audi than v60c hassle. It also gives voice activated dialing for those without ONSTAR. I didn't invested yet in v60c, so there is not issue of the legacy phone.
So I guess the advise is needed, please make some noise <ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/threads/13557.phtml#105600">https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/threads/13557.phtml#105600</a</li></ul>

I think Bluetooth would be a sweet idea an more and more devices will be available.
I have the motorola hands free kit in my A4 (see mt pic poster) and it works "ok". The mic Mot supplies is kinda crappy but I'm trying to find something better. I hooked it into the radio so the mute works and the callers voice plays thru the cars speakers.
The V60 already has voice dialing built into the phone so that works pretty good but again, since the mic is so crappy the voice dialing sometimes does not work well at highway speeds.
One downside to the bluetooth setup is that the phone does not get charged in the car.

bluetooth is just finding its niche
I dont think bluetooth is going to dieout anytime too soon, too many of the big companies have too much invested in it. The technology is sound they are just finding applications for it. BMW is planning on using it to link their transmissions to the engine computers. And if we can ever get some decent phones over here in the US (particularly for ATT) it is great for cellphone hands free, my uncle in england has had this set up for a year and it works incredible well.

yes, I remeber your post about v60 install...
Yes, I remember your post. I was even thinking about following your steps. The problem is that I don't have v60, so I have to get the phone and the kit and install it myself. It seems that bluetooth install is somewhat easier ("Plug and play"?) and the timeport phone is possibly better (many people dislike v60). Also more bluetooth enabled phones may become available. (or not if bluetooth dies before taking off
Charging the phone is not a problem, I can install a power cable in the glove-box or use the regular car adapter.
