Default Climate Control Problem

my car will always automatically use the recirculate option for the climate control system. Previously, i would have to manually choose the recirculate option (its a button with a small "A" followed by an arrow) Now, i have to manually choose the fresh air intake button. this sux because the dealer didnt find anything wrong. the manual reads that the recitrculate option shouldnt be chosen al the time and its comromising fuel economy .

Its okay to leave "A"uto recirculate on all the time. What happens if you leave that on?

Default I remember reading that you can change that setting with a VAG-COM

I believe the default setting for Audi's sold in Japan is auto-recirculate always on. I checked out the ross-tech site but didn't see anything specific to teh auto-recirculate option (but I didn't look too throughly)

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html</a

Default I can't see how recirc uses more fuel

when the recirc button is pushed, it simply cuts out the fresh air from outside and cycles the air from inside the cabin. It makes no sense tha it would use more fuel because of that. Econ/no Econ, ok, now that makese sense, but recirc...no sense.

Default Actually you should get better fuel economy with recirc on....

as the A/C compressor doesn't need to pump as hard (load the engine down using HP) to cool, cooler recirculated air than hotter outside air.

The A4 A/C compressor does not use a clutch system. It is a variable pressure system that consumes variable horsepower as required.
