Default PSA: Had the "LY Recall" performed on the 3.0 Tip and now it shifts beautifully.

FYI, the LY Recall is a re-flash of the Transmission Control Module (TCM). I don't know if it was a simple reset of the learning/memory, or a result of the new software from the re-flash, but the transmission is FAR improved. Better transmission of torque (less delay and less surging) in both Drive and Sport, and holds gears longer and smarter in Sport.

Default What about 5th gear in Sport?

Ours zings along in 4th on the highway unless we shift to D

Default I'm not aware of this recall. Is it something that should have been done during my recent svc?

I did not receive any notification about this, so I'm wondering whether I should mention it to the dealer.

Default I don't know for sure. We have a late-build 2002, and our 20K service was a year ago.

I really don't know what the "recall" applies to in terms of model years/build dates/transmission codes/etc. So I'm not sure if it was already fixed for 2003 and/or does not apply to MY2003 cars. Perhaps it was done without your knowledge...? \

Our dealer (Barrier in Bellevue, WA) provides really excellent service and told us about it as soon as we checked the car in (I know it sounds like fantasy land to so many Audi people, but they've treated us extremely well on both of our cars - worth mentioning).

Default I had this reflash a few months ago.. The dealer did not

tell me about it, until I got the car back from an oil change. Anyway, the car shifted great thru all gears and held rpm longer than before, but now the Sport mode will not go into 5th (it did before), and as of lately, the Tip has been shifting real bad again...slow shifts and not holding RPM like it used to after the reflash. I have tried driving the car hard for a while to have the Tip "adapt" to the driving habit, but still shifting crappy. I will bring it up to the service guys next trip...
