Would you change this timing belt?

It's not the timing belt to be worried about, it's the plastic-impeller water pump (don't get another one of those), or the tensioner.

Watch that camshaft position sensor on the 1.8T
If the car was otherwise perfect I wouldn't let the timing belt stop you. I've done several timing belts on vehicles over the years and the 1.8t was the easiest. If you don't do it yourself find out what your shop will charge and just figure that's an expense you'll have if you buy the car.
The camshaft position sensor bolts MUST have lock-tite and MUST BE left to dry for a day before going on full throttle! Know of those little bolts went into my lower timing belt cover, got caught between the block and the crank pulley, chewed the back ½ of the crank pulley completely off (the cup part that sits over the crankshaft seal) causing a stuck stop in my timing belt, which practically shredded the belt when hitting fragments of the crank pulley and that stupid little screw which left three exhaust valves bent. I’d had the head back on my engine for a total of 2 weeks since the first valve job. Just getting the bumper into the “service position” was a chore. I felt like it was me who was in the service position the more time I spent under that car’s hood. Just a heads up...good luck!
