Removing top speed limiter on a 2005 A8L question
Hello everyone,
I've been away from the forums for awhile. I currently have a 2001 Audi A8L with the limiter removed (saw a top speed of 158 mph for those curious...) after I put in a reprogramed ECU chip.
I am contemplating buying a 2005 A8L and wanted to find out if owners of similar year A8L have removed their top end limiter, where they bought the chip (or was it just a reprogram change via VAGCOM) and how much?
Thanks in advance for any tips...
Mike

If its still under warranty...
blah, blah, invalidate, blah, blah. If not or you don't care, then use Lemmiwinks to update adaption channel 7. If you are planning on using Lemmiwinks, you will probably want VAG-COM so you can make other mods.

Lemmiwinks info at Fourtitude

Heads' up if you go here--you need a serial VAG COM and it isn't for the W12 or S8 crowd
Doesn't work with a USB VAG COM. Only the older serial interface. I know from my C5 A6. I bet most out there are now USB but look into it carefully if you want Lemmiwinks.
For those others out there with S8's and W12's (or C6 S6's), forget it unless someone has new info. The postings I have seen say people haven't figured out how to get past having the two ECU's these engines use needing to stay synched at all times.

Bringing this post back from the dead to see if there is any new advice about using Lemmiwinks or UniSettings to modify to top speed limiter upwards.
I have search for almost 4 hours around different message boards and having a D3 S8 I still don't know if it is possible.
I have a new RT VAG COM cable and have both the Lemmi and Unitronic software downloaded to a dedicated laptop.
Just need some advice or directions to make it happen/
Thanks, Joe
