How can you tell if the automatic transmission really needs rebuilt?
My 96 A6 Quattro (which I got from the Auction, mistake!) occassionally shifted hard for a few months. A couple of weeks ago a noise began occurring at start time and before shifting. The noise has gotten worse, but still only occurs when the engine is cold. Transmission Clinic in Colorado Springs says it is toast. They are supposed to be good and reputable. Is there any chance that a flush and fill could fix it? Is there any way of knowing the difference between the noise that could solve and the noise that screams rebuild?
Thanks,
Sherri

Anyone know a good COS shop for Audi transmissions?
I'm not familiar with the C4s, but I know the C5 folks had TONS of trouble with the "lifetime" fill on the tiptronic.

Try Import Auto near Vicker and Academy. They have a good Audi mechanic and did a great job on my tailshaft seal leak. They even called me two days later to make sure everything was satisfactory. Good shop
